Welcome to Amanecer Developmental Preschool at Burk Elementary! Amanecer Preschool strives to offer children an opportunity to develop in an environment planned with their physical, mental, social, and emotional needs in mind. The program provides experiences planned to meet the needs of all attending preschoolers. Children needing special services have an opportunity to interact with typically developing students, giving them a role model to follow. Planned creative experiences provide an environment which:
1. Encourages self-esteem
2. Develops creativity and an interest and joy in learning
3. Increases receptive and expressive language skills
4. Develops self-control and responsibility
5. Develops fine and gross motor skills
6. Introduces pre-academic skills
7. Encourages appropriate interaction with other children and adults
8. Teaches problem-solving and decision-making skills
My name is Julie Patrick. I have lived here in Gilbert since I got married to my husband, Jeff, 26 years ago. We have two children: Ali and Matthew, who have both attended Gilbert Public Schools, and are now in college. We also have two beagles, George and Ringo.
I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Arizona State University. I am certified to teach both elementary and special education. I also hold SEI, Early Childhood, and Reading Specialist endorsements. I have taught young children for 30 years, and this is my tenth year teaching preschool. Besides preschool, I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, primary multi-age, and special education resource.
I love our community, and feel blessed to teach in an amazing school with such tremendous people! Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have!
