Headsprouts

1st Grade Students at Burk have the unique opportunity to participate in an exciting computerized reading program.  Students are actively engaged in reading silently and answering comprehension questions, as well as participating in phonics games to improve reading levels.  Headsprouts teaches phonics, vocabulary, and sight words! This program takes place on Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:30 pm.

Coding Club

Burk Elementary has implemented an after school Coding Club for interested 5th and 6th grade students! The members of this Coding Club learn simple introductory coding, using Blockly, and then transition into using Javascript or Python for coding online games.  Using online resources, students have also learned to customize characters, as well as create animated scenes!
